Overview

Lord Ganesha narrates the story of Skanda's mother Goddess Skandamata, wherein Skanda is another name for Kartikeya. He adds that though the gods wanted Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati to have a son, they feared the kind of powers he would possess.
