Synopsis
As a platform of his campaign, newly elected President Yoon Suk-yeol pledged to disband the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, a government organization that furthers women's rights. His statement courted controversy, sparking a discussion as to which gender truly encounters discrimination: Although women are expected to fulfill traditional motherly roles, men lose 2 working years to mandatory military service.
